SFO’s Career Pathway Program offers students and young professionals exposure to careers in aviation through internships, apprenticeships, fellowships and trainee programs. SFO’s Talent Mobility team oversees Career Pathway programming, providing participants access to professional development workshops, career services, leadership engagement, networking opportunities and other professional activities meant to equip participants with the skills and experience necessary for a successful career in aviation.

Summer High School Internship | Part-time summer internship for high school students looking to gain valuable work experience and career exposure at SFO in a variety of areas including guest services, airport operations, and office administration.

Summer College Internship | Part-time summer internship opportunity for college students seeking to gain valuable work experience and explore career options at SFO. Interns will have the chance to work in diverse areas such as safety and compliance, airport operations, and marketing and communications.

Career Advance Internship | SFO’s Career Advance Internship is for motivated individuals looking to gain valuable work experience and build their skills while playing a vital role in operations at SFO. Career Advance interns work in one of many offices at the airport supported by an SFO Mentor who will guide and develop interns through daily tasks and larger-scale projects.

SFO Fellowship Program | The SFO Fellowship is a one-year, full-time, paid fellowship designed to provide participants with an in-depth and hands-on experience in airport programs, projects, and operations. This immersive program offers a unique opportunity to gain comprehensive exposure to various facets of airport management and operations, preparing fellows for advanced roles in the aviation industry.

Student Design Trainee Program | The Student Design Trainee Program is a summer college internship for students in engineering, architecture, planning, and computer science/information services majors. Interns will gain on-the-job experience under the guidance of experienced professional engineers, architects, planners, and surveyors.

Opportunities for All (OFA) | Opportunities for All (OFA), an initiative led by Mayor London Breed, is a paid internship that connects young people of all backgrounds to paid employment, job training, and mentorship opportunities. SFO partners with OFA to provide paid internships opportunities to San Francisco Youth, age 16-27.
