It’s been a gratifying experience to assist with the infrastructure and recent expansion of the test site, which has 4 vehicle lanes and 1 pedestrian lane. A capacity to test 1,100 a day, if not more. Working closely with the clinical staff at Color/Carbon Health to streamline processes and serve those being tested while eliminating potential exposure to the entire staff. The days are spent outdoors, so being prepared for inclement weather is needed. It’s not unusual to experience 3 different seasons in one duty shift!
Meeting other DSWs and learning about their work and what their divisions do is fun and interesting. No longer acquaintances, we are becoming respected colleagues.
We are proud to represent the Airport and serve the City during this time of need.
In the photo, we are trying to maintain social distancing. Airport Duty Manager Russ Mackey resists being hugged by Diana Tsui, an intern in Planning Design and Construction and Maria Buyco, Airport Duty Manager. The three, along with Stu Adamson (not pictured) are assigned to a Covid-19 test site at Pier 30/32.
