Long Distance Charter

Apply

Please note that all commercial operators are required to have a permit to pick-up or drop-off at SFO.

To qualify to apply for a Long Distance Charter Operating Permit, the terminal of your company must be 100+ miles from SFO and that all your equipment that you intend to operate at SFO must be vans and/or buses only.

If you qualify, you do not need to register for a mandatory orientation.

Applicants must be licensed by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) prior to applying for a charter permit at SFO.  Out of state carriers must have Operating Authority granted by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).  Visit CPUC Carrier Status or FMCSA to verify status.

Once approved the decals will be mailed to your terminal with instructions on how to apply it on the approved SFO registered vehicles.

Permittee shall at all times maintain the Minimum Account Balance required by the Director (and as may be increased from time to time in the Director’s sole discretion) and comply with all other terms and conditions required of Permittee for establishing and maintaining such account. Rates are established on an annual basis by the Airport’s policy-making body, the Airport Commission.

Renew

Long Distance Charter Operating Permits expire on June 30 of each year.  Annual renewal web notices are sent as a reminder and permits are renewed via the Operator Web Portal during the months of April through June.

There is an annual registration fee (see Fees tab) based on the number of buses covered in the permit. All previously submitted information will be reviewed to ensure accuracy. All outstanding fees and/or administrative fines must be paid prior to renewal.

Once the Permit Renewal Request is approved for payment, and a payment is completed, the new decals will be sent via registered mail with instructions  of the decal placement.
