Drive-thru facility provides “gold standard” PCR test, results within 24 hours
San Francisco International Airport (SFO) announced the opening of a new onsite COVID-19 testing facility, which uses the “gold standard” of tests… the real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test. Effective May 6, 2021, this test is available to all airline passengers at SFO, with results available in 24 hours, and is priced at $90. An express option is also available with results in 12 hours and is priced at $150.
“We believe that pre-flight testing will continue to play an important role in the recovery of air travel,” said Airport Director Ivar C. Satero. “SFO was the first airport in the US to establish an onsite rapid testing capability, and we are now proud to offer a cost-effective testing option to all travelers at SFO, using the universally accepted PCR test administered by Worksite Labs.”
“We are thrilled to partner with SFO to ensure the safety of domestic and international travelers,” said Gary Frazier, Worksite Labs CEO. “With the summer travel season right around the corner, we are glad to be offering the gold standard of testing at an affordable price. This partnership represents our mutual commitment to reduce the impact of COVID-19 and expand access to quality testing solutions for all.”
The new drive-thru testing facility is located just north of the SFO terminals and can be accessed easily via San Bruno Avenue off Highway 101 or Highway 380. Passengers must make an appointment online, selecting a date and time that complements their travel itinerary. At the appointment, passengers can remain in their vehicle for the duration of the test. Worksite Labs will then notify the passengers electronically of their test results within 24 hours.
Worksite Labs will operate the testing facility seven days a week from 6 AM – 2 PM. Reservations can be made online at www.worksitelabs.com/scheduling for appointments starting Thursday, May 6, 2021.
SFO continues to operate an onsite rapid testing facility, located in the International Terminal, on Level 3, at the Aisle 6 ticket counter in the Edwin M. Lee International Departures Hall. This site, offers testing to United Airlines passengers to Hawaii, along with other select airlines and is operated by Dignity Health-GoHealth Urgent Care, and administers at Abbott ID Now Nucleic Acid Amplification Test.
With the opening of this new facility, the SFO Cell Phone Waiting Area has now been relocated to an adjacent lot in Lot DD. For more information on the new cell phone waiting lot location, please visit:
