As we approach the Holiday Travel Season, we are experiencing an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases across the nation. This has prompted further travel guidance from local and state officials. While the Airport has observed generally high levels of guest and staff compliance with face coverings and physical distancing requirements, it is critical we remain diligent in enforcing local and state health regulations and Airport policies. We ask for your cooperation with the following measures:
- Enforce facial coverings for all employees and guests
- Make frequent announcements in the hold rooms and baggage claim areas regarding physical distancing
- Deliver baggage to claim areas in a timely manner to reduce customer crowding at claim units
- Practice flight separation at gates whenever possible to encourage physical distancing in the hold rooms, considering both times of departure and load factors
To support these efforts, the Airport is enhancing announcements and signage throughout the concourse to advise of new California recommendations that encourage travelers to quarantine for 14 days if arriving from out-of-state.
Airport Travel Well Ambassadors and Customer Care support staff will continue to be in the area and at the checkpoints to help guests maintain safe distances. Additionally, SFO has established a 24/7 COVID-19 hotline as a travel information resource for guests. This hotline is also the place to report related health and safety concerns. The hotline number is 650.821.8205.
