The ongoing COVID-19 crisis is challenging employees and the Airport in unprecedented ways. Containing the virus and protecting people remains the top priority. The virus itself and risk reduction measures taken to avoid contracting the disease require ongoing support for sick and quarantined employees.
The federal Emergency Paid Sick Leave (ESP) and Emergency Family Medical Leave (EFMLA) paid leave benefits expire on December 31, 2020. This is the original expiration date for those benefits under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act. The new federal COVID relief bill signed into law did not extend those benefits. Benefits will also terminate on December 31, 2020, for employees who started a qualifying ESP or EFMLA leave before the expiration date.
Although the federal benefits are ending, other options continue to be available to support employees. Employees unable to work on-site or telecommute due to COVID-19 impacts may also consider available leave options described in the attached leave benefit update.
