New Airport A-CERT classes

Airport-Community Emergency Response Team (A-CERT)

Do you know what to do when disaster strikes?

Attend the A-CERT Training course to learn life-saving skills, practice basic search and rescue methods, and prepare yourselves, your homes and the airport for disasters.

SFO Emergency Management in coordination with San Francisco Fire Department is conducting the next class:

What: A-CERT Training
When: May 7-9, 7am to 3pm (3-days)
Where: Airport Emergency Operations Center (EOC), Terminal 2, Departures Level
Who: Any SFO Badged Employee

A-CERT training includes:

  • Disaster medical operations (first aid and field triage)
  • Security and terrorism response
  • Learn life-saving and personal preparedness skills
  • Fire safety and utility controls: suppress a live fire with a fire extinguisher
  • Practice basic (light) search and rescue methods
  • Learn emergency communication procedures
  • Airport tour and Fire and Mass Casualty Vehicle familiarization
  • Participate and support emergency functional and full-scale training exercises
  • $ Cost to attend: None - Class is FREE!

A commitment is required: A-CERT is a 24-hour course delivered over 3 consecutive days. Participants must attend all hours and all modules in order to be certified. Manager approval for attendance during duty hours is required. Space is limited to 50 participants; employees of Facilities Maintenance are especially encouraged to attend. Additional classes are tentatively scheduled for 28-30 October and 11-13 December 2019.

For those who are already trained and certified in NERT or CERT in another community or agency, you may sign-up for the first four-hours of the course on Day 1 for airport certification. A certificate of completion is required.
