SFO Food Donation Drive, October 23 through November 27

Did you know that one in ten people in San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties turn to Second Harvest Food Bank(1) (SHFB) for food every single month? Join SFO in the fight against local hunger by donating food to help connect local hungry families to the healthy and nutritious food they need to thrive.

From October 23 through November 27, place non-perishable food items into the barrels near your offices.

All non-perishable food donations will be accepted, but SHFB especially needs these nutritious items:

  • Meals in a can (soup, stew, chili)
  • Low-sodium canned vegetables
  • Canned tuna, chicken or salmon
  • Olive or canola oil
  • Peanut butter
  • Spices (cinnamon, chili powder, cumin, salt free spice blends)
  • Canned foods with pop-top lids
  • Low-sugar whole grain cereals
  • Canned fruit in its own juice or water
  • Healthy snacks (granola bars, nuts, dried fruit)

In 2016, SFO donated 2,787 pounds of canned goods to SHFB. For our efforts, SFO received a Bronze Award! This year, our goal is to donate 3,200 pounds. Just 2 lbs. 4 oz. of food creates 2 meals. Every donation, regardless of size, counts as together we can make a big difference!
