New Temporary “T” Badge Replacing Visitor and Construction Badges on 1/10/2017

Please note that, in order to facilitate a smooth transition and ensure that the Airport Community is fully informed on the details of the new badging procedure, the implementation date for the new Temporary "T" Badge program has been rescheduled to Tuesday, January 10, 2017.

In order to strengthen the safety and security of the Airport, and in keeping with the Airport’s Core Value of Safety and Security being our First Priority, SFO will be eliminating the Visitor “V” and Construction “C” Badges from the Airport Security Program.  Effective 1/10/2017, SFO will be enhancing the Airport’s escort program by implementing a more comprehensive Temporary Badge (“T” Badge). 

Unlike the “V” and “C” Badges, “T” Badges must be issued by the Airport directly to the individual to be escorted.  Badges will no longer be supplied to store up for as-needed issuance.  

There will be two types of “T” Badges available:

  • Standard “T” badges – valid for a maximum of 30 days.  A $10 fee per badge will apply for Standard “T” badges.
  • Limited Duration ”T” badges – valid for 24 hours.  There will be no charge for Limited Duration “T” badges.

Individuals must apply and pick up badges at the Security Access Office (SAO) and must present valid government-issued photo ID.  “T” badge users must be escorted by a badged Airport employee at all times.

The SAO Satellite Office will open on November 1, 2016.  It will be open during normal business hours of 7:30am – 4:30pm.  This office will be used for “T” Badge issuance, Key Request Issuance, Vehicle Permit Issuance and Acceptance of Termination Requests.   The office will be located on the 5th  Floor of the ITB, just down the hallway from the SAO.

Authorized Signatories may continue to submit completed request forms for Standard “T” Badges via email to T-Badgeprocessing@flysfo.com or fax 650.821.5259.  Those processed will be available for pick up beginning prior to January 10, 2017.
