As of January 21, 2021 (9 AM), SFO is aware of 389 employees at SFO testing positive for COVID-19. SFO has outlined a recommended process for all employers in the event of a confirmed case, including protocols to notify employees who may have had close contact with the person who tested positive, compliance with applicable health guidelines and worker safety regulations, and disinfection of the area where the person who tested positive works.

The Federal Aviation Administration(FAA) has implemented a new Zero Tolerance policy to combat unruly and disruptive passengers on flights. The policy will require the FAA to take legal action against any passenger who interferes or assaults a crew member. The policy is effective immediately and will be in place through March, 2021. Airport will close runway for four months to complete work originally scheduled for 2022 San Francisco International Airport (SFO) continues to accelerate runway improvement projects to take advantage of reduced flight schedules resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. Today, the Airport announced plans to close Runway 28R for a period of four months to complete upgrades originally scheduled to occur in 2022. Accelerated work on this runway began in October 2020 with the repaving of a section of Runway 28R where it intersects with two other runways.
