Mayor London N. Breed reminds us to complete the 2020 Census. More than 150,000 households in San Francisco have not yet completed the census, and the deadline is September 30th.
The census is important to all residents of San Francisco and the Bay Area as the data guides lawmakers, business owners, teachers and others in providing services, products and support for the community. The data informs the distribution of over $675 billion in federal funds to states and communities each year for things like health care, food assistance and infrastructure. It is also used to determine the number of seats each state will have in the U.S. House of Representatives, and to draw congressional and state legislative districts.
The census can be completed online or by phone in 13 different languages: English, Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Russian, Arabic, Tagalog, Polish, French, Portuguese, Haitian Creole, and Japanese.
